The y2g guidebook leads you through the process of setting up a garden
and developing a healthy relationship between the gardener and the landowner.
Yards to Gardens Guidebook (pdf)
Sample Agreement (pdf)
Here is a sample contract to serve as a model for how you might
want to build your gardening relationship. Yards are a privately owned
space, and gardening is hard work; so make sure everyone’s expectations
are understood from the start so things don’t get too messy. A big thank you to the
Sustainable Economies Law Center in Oakland, CA for drafting this agreement.
Help spread the word:
Check out our Y2G FLYER (color or black and white). If
you're looking for gardeners or garden-space in your area, you can print
off a few of these and give them to neighbors, or post them in community
spaces. Check back for more Y2G materials soon (including educational
and informational materials).
Gardening Matters is a key partner of Y2G and the leading
organization on community gardens in the Twin Cities. Community gardens
provide opportunities to grow food, to share traditions between cultures
and generations, to create habitable environments, and most importantly
to build community. The multiple benefits of community gardens extend
far beyond a garden's borders!
The Minnesota Energy Challenge
Y2G was made possible, in part, by a City of Minneapolis
Climate Change Micro-grant. This grant is centered around a city-wide initiative
to fight climate change. At the Minnesota Energy Challenge website you
can help you calculate your carbon footprint and learn how to save money
and energy in your home. It's about supporting individuals and motivating
communities towards change. Take
the challenge today!
